The going has been a little rough, to say the least. Even without addressing the condition of my caboose I've been getting about 2-3 hours of sleep and that's never good. However Ian is a soldier so I'm taking all other opportunities to rest and recharge. But tonight we headed for bed at 7:30 and I've had two, three-hour stints of solid sleep so I'm ready for a party! I could/should be sleeping again, as everyone else is, but hunger calls and also I can always grab a nap in the morning since Ewan and Seth are headed over to a friend's to play for the morning.

Right now my breasts are screaming as they inflate painfully; Colin is a bit of a problem nurser. Shallow latch, pulling his tongue in and flicking - yes, we are cracked and bleeding. He totally has E's mouth and habits, and I remember crying as the scabs got sucked off back then, too. Half a day's improvement is quickly undone. Frustrating. Knowing what to do doesn't always mean it's all that easy to get baby to figure it out. Pressing on. Hard labour = easy breastfeeding? No such luck!

He's finally getting cute. I think Ian hates when I joke/tell people he's not cute yet. But really! His face was swollen and red for the last few days and today he finally looks like somebody I know. He's been so dry I've used half a bottle of olive oil on him. His head is a divinely fuzzy peach.

I think I have to go tend to my left Hindenburg before it splits. Egads.
